If anyone cares they can crosscheck with the records. The Achimota school and most of the forest Land was paid for outright by the colonial government. Even for the sake of argument, if the original landowners are pressuring the government are we saying that for the mutual good of all the inhabitants of Accra, government cannot stay back the demand of these supposed landowners for the supreme good of the whole inhabitants of Accra? Has anyone considered the health and environment benefits of this forest to the people of Accra?

The Achimota Forest Land was purchased from the Owoo family by GUggisberg in 1927 as a reserve and a woodlot for the Achimota school. It was paid for fully and is been used exactly what it was intended for. A reserve. The greed of our Mafia regime is rift and alive. The state plunder is massive. The whole of Accra, its the Achimota Forest that absorbs the carbons and gives us oxygen. Who in his rightful sense will do this if not greed.

The Forestry Commission sits inside or at the edge of the Achimota Forest Reserve and all the EXPERTS are sitting down for the Government to do this. Johnny Francois will be crying in his grave. Will the Forestry Commission have the courage to tell Ghanaians to plant trees to Green Ghana come June 10. At a time when landloards are being paid in some countries to preserve their forests as part of carbon credit exchange, here we are derecognizing a century old forest reserve. If this is true, then it is a shame. Environmentalists, Ghana Forestry Commission and all concerned Ghanaians must arise. In this era of climate change what then is our contribution towards reversing the trend. The president has been travelling to Europe and America and he sees the Green Belts all around, even in the cities. I call on all concerned Ghanaians to hang RED FLAGS around the forest. Shame. Ghana Forestry Commission, please organize tree planting in the forest to save it. The president should sign an executive instrument to preserve our one and only forest left in Accra. Following the conversations of the president at various fora, it is clear that he and the government of Ghana are not committed to the fight against climate change. I do not have any iota of surprise that the president is going on this tangent after he made it clear at COP26 that Ghana and other developing countries could not sacrifice their development for the environment and that there need to be a balance. But my only worry is that the president is a former chairman of SDG and his level of non-commitment to climate change is mindboggling. This step is a sharp departure from the world's commitment to end deforestation by 2030. Sad development to say the least.

We would not sit and allow this man Akufo Addo and his supporters to destroy two different forest reserves in Ghana. He is already destroying Atiwa forest and now going after Achimota forest? Could it be that he knew what he was doing behind the scenes so he openly announced an go green policy to pacify us? How callous can such a character be? Only a bloody pushback can stop such crassness and corrupt behavior by these people. We would destroy everything they build with their ill gotten booty in the Achimota forest in due time and grow back our trees.
